More than a third of Dutch young people suffer from stress or sleep problems. So this includes young people in your surroundings. These issues can lead to mental health complaints. That’s why you should consider taking the Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course. You’ll learn how to recognize signs of mental health issues in young people and how to support them in such situations.
With the Youth MHFA course, you’ll increase your knowledge of mental health conditions in young people and learn to identify signs of mental distress. You’ll practice how to start a conversation with a young person you suspect is struggling with mental health issues and how to act if they are in crisis. Additionally, you’ll become more aware of the stigma and prejudices surrounding mental health conditions and their effects.
The knowledge and skills you gain in this course can make a real difference in the life of someone who is struggling mentally.
This course consists of 14 hours of lessons, divided over four sessions. If you attend all meetings, complete the e-learning, and pass the assessment, you will be officially recognized as a First Responder MHFA, with the possibility of earning accreditation points for Registerplein and SKJ.
